Baseball Batting: An Electromyographic study

Electromyography (EMG) records electrical activity of muscles. This study from 1993 examined 18 (17 milb, 1 mlb) professional baseball players to determine the firing pattern of muscles from the lower extremity, trunk and upper extremity.  Guess what?  The highest muscle activity was generated initially in the lower body (glutes, hamstrings) and transferred through the trunk to the upper body.
